Meet Michel – Master Jeweller
With over 50 years of experience, Michel is a highly qualified master jeweller specialising in handcrafted jewellery, antique restoration, and one-of-a-kind gallery pieces. His journey began at just 15 years old in Beirut, Lebanon, where a summer job alongside his brother quickly became a lifelong passion.
By his late teens, Michel was fully immersed in the craft, training with a renowned goldsmithing company and mastering traditional techniques that few jewellers practise today. His skills took him across Europe, including Greece, Italy, Switzerland, and Germany, where he became known for recreating museum, quality pieces and perfecting the rare art of traditional filigree.
In 1983, Michel opened his first jewellery store in Beirut before later relocating to Melbourne with his family in 2000. There, he blended his deep heritage in traditional Middle Eastern craftsmanship with modern Western design, creating jewellery that speaks to both timeless elegance and contemporary style.
Michel’s Jewellery reopened its doors in Bendigo in 2008, growing from a beloved local store into a trusted name serving customers Australia-wide, without ever losing its core values of connection, creativity, and exceptional workmanship.
Michel believes jewellery is deeply personal. Whether restoring a treasured antique or creating a new handmade piece, he treats every item with care, respect, and an understanding of its sentimental value—now and for generations to come.
Today, Michel continues to work with the same passion he had when he first began. He is joined by his daughter Maria, who is learning the craft firsthand as they run the store and online shop together, proudly continuing the family tradition of fine jewellery.
